Not nostalgia — a living workshop for the present.
Ragnarøkkr engages with Nordic-Germanic culture, history and craft. We bring it to life — at festivals, in workshops, around the fire — and invite everyone to discover it with us. Around the fire everyone shares the same place: young and old, long-established and curious alike. These are the places we create.

Ragnarøkkr wants to make social participation possible: for all members — and especially for people and groups for whom access to existing and new offerings is made harder. Culture and community should not be a privilege.

Easing the load on families
We take some of the burden off parents and open a path for their children to shared experiences and to culture.
How we put this into practice
Our statutes (Art. 2) explicitly name the divide between rich and poor as one of the challenges we address. In concrete terms this means: supervised workshops and educational activities for children, deliberately low fees (from CHF 5) and unbureaucratic hardship solutions, so that cost excludes no one. Parents gain a little time — children gain access to craft, stories and nature.
Connecting generations
Young and old at one fire: activities that bring people together across age boundaries rather than dividing them.
How we put this into practice
The divide between young and old, too, is written literally into our statutes. We create “spaces for encounter, exchange and shared activity” (Art. 2): storytelling evenings, shared craft, festivals at which knowledge is passed on. Older people bring experience, younger people curiosity — love of learning and community spirit, two of our twelve virtues, thrive on exactly this togetherness.
In the heart of the region
Present in life around Basel — at the Herbstmesse, at markets, at Fasnacht and at festivals in the area.
How we put this into practice
At the Herbstmesse and at markets we show old craft, explain history and make Nordic culture accessible — to touch, to question and to try out. At Fasnacht we help carry living tradition and show children and the curious how it comes about.
Ragnarøkkr is a cultural and historical association — open, ideologically neutral and democratic. We distance ourselves explicitly and completely from any far-right, racist or ethno-nationalist appropriation of Nordic symbolism — and likewise from esotericism, rune magic and pseudoscience: we work in a cultural-historical way, critically with sources and with respect for the facts. Origin, skin colour, gender, religion or worldview play no role with us — except the conviction that we treat one another respectfully and honestly.
