Values & Code of Honour

Twelve virtues from tradition — they shape how we work.

These values are set out in our statutes. They are not decoration but a working principle: we take our bearings from them in how we shape events, pass on knowledge and treat one another.

01

Honesty & Sincerity

We say what we mean and stand by it — even when it is uncomfortable.

In everyday practiceHonest answers — even when an "I don't know" is part of them.

02

Honour & Responsibility

Not pride, but standing up for one's word and actions.

In everyday practiceWhoever makes a mistake says so first — and helps to put it right.

03

Equality & Respect

Every person counts equally — regardless of background, gender and worldview.

In everyday practiceAt the fire, at the table, in the workshop: an equal voice for everyone.

04

Perseverance & Courage

We start, we stay with it and we dare to face the unfinished.

In everyday practiceCommitments still hold when things get demanding.

05

Mental & Physical Strength

We look after mind and body, because both carry the weight.

In everyday practiceBreaks are part of it: whoever is exhausted is relieved — no sideways glances.

06

Community Spirit & Belonging

We think beyond ourselves and lend a hand for one another.

In everyday practiceEveryone helps set up and take down — not always the same people.

07

Connection to Nature & Mindfulness

Nature as a measure, not as a backdrop.

In everyday practiceEvery site is left cleaner than we found it.

08

Vocation & Self-Discipline

We seek out the task that challenges us — of our own accord.

In everyday practiceEach person takes on what suits them — and sees it through.

09

Curiosity & Spirit of Discovery

We ask, we try things out and we are not put off by the new.

In everyday practiceQuestions are welcome — especially the simple ones.

10

Adaptability & Humility

We adapt, we admit mistakes and we know our limits.

In everyday practicePlan B is not a failure but a craft.

11

Love of Learning & Thirst for Knowledge

We keep learning and treat knowledge as a shared good.

In everyday practiceWhoever has a skill passes it on — knowledge does not stay in one pair of hands.

12

Loyalty & Reliability

What we promise, we keep.

In everyday practiceCancellations come early — not not at all.

The Code of Honour

Six commitments — binding for everyone who takes part.

The code translates the virtues into clear rules for our events and workshops.

  1. Respect first.

We treat everyone with equal dignity — guests as members, children as adults.

  2. No exclusion.

Racist, extremist or demeaning remarks and symbols have no place with us — without exception.

  3. Integrity before effect.

We tell history with a critical eye for sources: what is interpretation, we call interpretation.

  4. Safety before speed.

At the fire, with tools and around children, clear rules and sober heads apply.

  5. Children under special protection.

Supervision only by suitable, appointed people — parents always know who is responsible.

  6. Address conflicts.

Directly with one another — or through the board's trusted contact person.

Where we stand

Open, neutral, democratic — and watchful.

We actively oppose any far-right appropriation of Norse symbolism — and keep our distance from esotericism and pseudoscience. With us, runes are writing and history, never secret doctrine. That is why we do not banish historical signs: we set them in context, rather than avoiding them out of reflex.

Where we stand, in detail

Runes (Elder Futhark): "we live" "What we do should strike sparks — curiosity about craft, history and community." — Guiding principle of the association
